Communion Message #7
When we were in lockdown, I was checking the stats for COVID every day. I was jumping on the QLD health website and then the Australian stats and the World stats. I don’t think it was about fear, I just was looking for a sign that things were going to go back to normal. Signs of hope that this thing was starting to decline.
It was the same for the prophets in the Old Testament. They had some signs that they knew to look for that the Messiah was coming. They had eagerly awaited this saviour that was finally going to resolve everything. And so they waited and watched. Hoping that a sign would emerge to indicate the coming of the great King.
The Messiah was their hope. They may not have known exactly how God intended to achieve all that He promised, but they knew that the Messiah would resolve all. We too are in the season of waiting. We eagerly await the return of Christ and the Kingdom of God. Jesus, the Messiah, is still our hope today. We don’t know exactly how or when Jesus will return, but we know He will come.
Jesus has never stopped being the hope of this world.
